Pazz & Jop 2009

I think this is my Village Voice Pazz & Jop 2009 ballot. I took the opportunity of a snafu to resubmit and wedge in some last-minute listening. So tUnE-yArDs and Dirty Projectors were dropped from the albums list, Jay Sean's arrival "Down" and The Ting Tings' non-rebellious "We Walk" from singles. I'm dizzee, bonkers, definitely not free - as usual, anyone griping about no good new music (or even no new boundary-pushing, forward-thinking music) just ain't listening. In fact, 2009 > 2008 to these ears.

1. Glasvegas: Glasvegas (Columbia)
2. DJ Quik and Kurupt, BlaQKout (Mad Science)
3. Sonic Youth: The Eternal (Matador)
4. Health: Get Color (Lovepump United)
5. White Denim: Fits (Full Time Hobby)
6. Brad Paisley: American Saturday Night (Arista Nashville)
7. Raffertie: The Bigger Than Barry Mixtape (mp3)
8. Mos Def: The Ecstatic (Downtown)
9. Bob Dylan: Christmas in the Heart (Columbia)
10. Wet Hair: The Beach (Night People)

1. Ryan Leslie: “Gibberish” (Casablanca)
2. Jesse McCartney featuring Ludacris: “How Do You Sleep?” (Hollywood)
3. Dizzee Rascal and Armand Van Helden: "Bonkers" (Dirtee Stank)
4. Raffertie: “Sugar” (Seclusiasis)
5. Walter Jones: "Living Without Your Love" (DFA)
6. Franz Ferdinand: “No You Girls (Raffertie Remix)” (Domino)
7. Lady Gaga: “Poker Face” (Interscope)
8. Lady Gaga: "Bad Romance" (Interscope)
9. Major Lazer featuring Vybz Kartel: "Pon de Floor" (Downtown)
10. Jada: “American Cowboy” (Motown/Universal)
